Two Monkeys in a Crib

Today when Logan woke up from his nap, Evan and I went up to his room to get him up, as we always do.  But today I picked Evan up and had him give Logan kisses while Logan was still lying in his crib.  Then I dropped (gently placed actually) Evan in the crib with Logan.  The boys had fun just being silly in the crib for a while.  Logan loved having his big brother in his bed and it is hard to believe that Evan was sleeping in that same crib just one year ago.  He has gotten so big!  Silly boys!

April Inside Fun

The weather has been beautiful this month which is especially nice seeing as we had a winter that seemed as if it was never going to end and we spent then end of March in Florida.  To come home to a cool, damp April would have been terrible!  We have been spending as much time as possible outside but we have also still be having lots of fun inside.  I guess maybe we just have fun where ever we are.  It's hard not to with these two little boys!

I was giving Logan zerberts...

Crickets

Evan has been using the potty since Saturday and has had very few accidents.  He has been wearing big boy undies all day, everyday with the exception of nap time and bed time.  Today while he was on the toilet, we had a classic conversation.

Evan to me while pooping: I only have little poops, Mom.  Not big poops.  I'm done.
Me: Well, why don't see if you have to go more?
Evan: I don't
Me: Just try
(He tries)
Evan: WOW!  Those were big poops!  They were like crickets.
Me: Crickets?
Evan: Yeah, crickets.  Stinky poops are like crickets.

Don't ask me why or how but that is what he said.  I could write a book with all of the gems he comes up with while sitting on the toilet.  I'd call it Toilet Talks!

All in all, I have to say that potty training Evan was a snap.  We tried a few times (once in December, once in February, and then again just a few weeks ago) but he wasn't quite ready.  Then this past weekend when we cancelled our trip to NJ, we decided to try again.  We put Evan in big boy undies sometime mid-day Friday and by Sunday morning he was telling us when he needed to go and going on his own too!  We even made it through a trip to the grocery store with no accidents today.  Everyone told us when they are ready, they are ready...it really was true!  Let's hope Logan is as easy!

These pictures are from mid-April...I just love that little bum in big boy undies!  Evan will likely hate me for posting these pictures someday.

Pispenders

After a bit of a delay in returning home so that they could stay and enjoy their new place for a little while, Papa and Gramma are home!!  They just arrived last night and we already went to visit today after music class.  We are supposed to go to NJ this weekend so we won't be able to spend time with them then.  It was great to see them and the boys (and mommy) are happy to have them home!  Papa made a "new" belt for Evan and even found him a pair of "pispenders".  We are looking forward to having lots of fun this spring, summer and fall!

Adam's Birthday Party

Today we celebrated the birthday of yet another 3 year-old boy.  We seem to know quite a few of those!  It was Adam's party, a bit belated due to major construction that was on-going at Carl and Hannah's house.  It was great to see friends that we don't see very often and to see the transformation of their home.  I can't believe they just "moved back in" yesterday and had a party today!  Happy birthday, Adam!

What A Zoo!?!

Well today was Logan's first trip to Roger Williams Park Zoo.  It wasn't nearly as well documented as Evan's first trip but it is tough to juggle two little boys on one of the first hot, summery days of the year when you go to the zoo during school vacation week!  What was I thinking?!?!  We met Auntie Karin, Sean and Grammy and Emily & Lia there.  We had a fun day, complete with a trip to Hasbro's Big Backyard to play in the water and Del's.  After today, I'm not sure how many "outings" I will be taking by myself this summer.  Maybe we'll just spend more time at the "beach house"!

Kiss the Baby and Other Logan Fun

Gramma taught Logan to play "kiss the baby" while we were in Florida.  Since returning home, he has been playing in every mirror he sees.  He especially likes the one on his exersaucer!

Admiring the baby

Giving the baby kisses

Logan has also been trying out all sorts of fun noises, sounds and other various mouth silliness.  Here are a couple of our favorites caught on video.  He is generally quite pleased with himself.  If you can't entertain yourself, who can you entertain?

Logan also has this new super cute way of dancing.  He started it a little while ago but it has been hard to capture on video.  Look for the side wiggle right at the beginning of the video.  Such rhythm!

Success

Today we had a play date with the Wheeler's.  Over the last year, Michelle and I have watched Evan and Dylan learn how to play together.  Today, it finally all came together!  They had a great time exploring outside and using their imaginations.  I didn't take out my camera to capture some truly sweet moments but this is how I found Evan when we returned home.

I'd say it was a success!

Starting Seeds

Last summer the plants in our garden yielded a really good crop, especially the tomatoes, which we were picking by the quart.  We didn't give it a ton of attention because we were a little busy, especially at the end of the summer, but it still did quite well.  We saved seeds from a few different veggies - 3 varieties of tomatoes, broccoli and green beans.  Tonight Daddy and Evan started some seeds that will hopefully grow into our starter seedlings to be transferred into the garden in a few weeks.

Cousin Time

Last night we had our hands full (well not really) with four of the best little boys on the planet.  It was the night of the Boys & Girls Club Auction and so we babysat for Danny and Sean.  It has been a while since the cousins had much time to play together and they all had fun.  Danny had a great time playing with Logan and making him laugh.  We ordered Domino's for dinner and then Danny read to all the boys before bedtime!  Can't believe our (not so) little nephew is reading!
Today we went to Mozzarella's for lunch to celebrate Grammy's 70th birthday.  Happy birthday, Grammy!

Visiting Gigi

Gigi has returned from Vero Beach, FL where she had a great winter with Great Aunt Bet.  Today we stopped by for a short visit before meeting Kristie for lunch.  As always, it was wonderful to see her and the boys helped to brighten her day on this cold, rainy, yucky, spring day!

Spring Has Sprung (And Other Fun)!

After such a busy March and first few days of April, we have been enjoying a relatively quiet month since returning home from Florida.  The weather has been quite nice and warmand sunny enough for us to get outside most days.  It has been fun to watch Evan rediscover "old toys" and to watch Logan figure out "this outside thing".
We have also enjoyed our time inside, with boys being boys, taking extra special care of "Baby George", and dancing.  Evan has been asking me quite often to "dance with me, Mommy?"  That is a request I simply can't refuse!  I hope he still wants to dance with his mom when he's 15!

Evan has been getting reacquainted with his tractor. He's having a bit of a tough time pedaling but I'm sure it will click again in a couple of days.

Eight Months

Dear Logan,
Today you are 8 months old and you are the droolyist little guy ever!  You wear a bib all the time and we are still waiting on more teeth, which must be coming soon.  You had a month full of firsts - your first flight, your first trip to the beach, your first time in a pool, lots of new foods (all of which you enjoy), your first time meeting Uncle Ty, Auntie Kristina and cousin Hannah.  You also had a chance to get reacquainted with Papa & Gramma and Omi & Grandpa (only for a short time) while we visited them and they visited us, respectively.  You are beginning to form more of a sleep schedule with a morning nap generally between 9 and 10, an afternoon nap between 2 and 3,  and you almost always wake up at 6:30 and go to bed at 8.  You are still quite an easy baby to care for as long as you are fed, (relatively) dry and rested.  Each day you discover new toys and figure out how things work.  It is hard to believe that time is going so quickly but we love you more and more each day.  We love the little person that you are becoming and look forward to lots of fun that is just around the corner.
Love, mom.

Fun in the Florida Sun

Well another trip to Fort Myers has come to an end and again we had a wonderful time.  Our 11 days were busy but filled with a lot of fun.  It was Logan's first vacation filled with lots of firsts - flight, swim in a pool, trip to the beach, time meeting Allie.  Here is a collection of photos from our flight, time hanging out at the condo, out to eat and by the pool.  As you can see, there were lots of smiles and I know a set of grandparents who will miss those smiles next week.

Here are a few videos.

Evan was a dancing machine at Dairy Queen, entertaining everyone who was enjoying their ice cream outside that evening

And lots of fun in the pool

Imaginarium Science Center

It has become a bit of a tradition during our trips to Fort Myers for Gramma and Mommy to have a day of brunch/lunch and shopping while the boys do whatever it is that they decide to do.  Sometimes they stay at the condo and swim, sometimes they go to a park and playground.  Today they decided to go to the Imaginarium Science Center and escape the sun for the afternoon.  Evan was a bit too young for many of the exhibits and activities but he had fun all the same.  This is definitely a place that we will visit again when the boys are a little older.

Indian Creek

I mentioned in the Pirate Golf post that Gramma & Papa had a new place that we were able to see, at least on the outside, on Thursday.  That was just after their offering price had been accepted by the seller.  Today we were able to actually go in and see it.  This is something they have been thinking about and toying with for a number of years and I am glad that they decided to finally buy a place in Fort Myers, even if it does mean that they will be spending more time in Florida and less time in Rhode Island.  I know they will be very happy here and am excited for a new adventure next year when we visit!

Sanibel Beach

Today we took Logan on his first trip to the beach.  We drove over to Sanibel, planning to go to the beach for a few hours and then go to the Mucky Duck for lunch.  We were having so much fun that we decided to just stay at the beach and eat the few snacks that we brought with us.  It was a bit of a rocky start as Logan was hungry, tired and fussy and Evan was overly excited and a bit impatient but once we were settled, it was just about as perfect as a beach day can be with a two year old and an infant.  Evan made about 300 trips from the sand in front of our chairs to the water, singing and collecting shells the entire time. I think we may have spoiled Logan a bit...it's going to be tough to out do the beauty of Sanibel!
